A new music festival, the New Zealand Blues, Roots & Groove Festival, covering the musical genres of blues, roots, gospel, country, ska, rock and soul, is taking place in Palmerston North from 1-4 September 2022.

Festival organiser Rodger Fox says the four-day event, to be held during the first weekend of September each year, will feature established and emerging artists from around the country and, when possible, leading international artists.

“Over 90 artists have committed to perform at this year’s Festival, including American jazz guitarist David Becker. Recognised as one of the all-time best jazz guitarists, Becker has shared the stage with celebrated jazz acts including Miles Davis, Chick Corea and Michael Brecker,” Rodger Fox says.

The Globe Theatre on Palmerston North’s Main Street will be the hub of the Festival and the venue where the ticketed events will take place. There will also be a series of Festival events held in selected bars and cafés in Palmerston North, free of charge.

Those attending the four-day festival can purchase a VIP Card, giving them tickets to shows and the Blues educational offerings with massive discounts on ticketed events.

Rodger Fox said, "We would like to acknowledge the generous support being provided to the Festival by the Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA), the Central Energy Trust, the Eastern & Central Community Trust and Palmerston North City.

For information about the Festival, check the Schedule page and join the database on the contact page.
